Friends and Family,

Last we wrote from Prince Rupert. We are now in Port McNeil on the East coast of Vancouver Island. We watched the weather for over a week and the continuous 30+ knots of wind off the North end of Vancouver Island didn't sound like a lot of fun so we are headed back down the inside passage for hopefully a smoother ride and some sunny weather.

We made our way from Prince Rupert in a hurry for some sunny weather. We got to stop at a few places we heard about along the way, one Bishop Bay.  There is a great hot springs there with a dock.  We had the entire place to our selves for a couple hours, a treat we found out later. We took turns between relaxing on the deck and soaking in the hot pool of water. After a few hours the rest of the world started arriving. There were boats anchored out and rafted at the dock by night fall. It was a great relaxing stop.

Friends and Family,

We made it to San Francisco! We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge a week ago and are happily tied up to the dock at the Oakland Yacht Club. We are enjoying some relaxation following our trip down the coast.

It has been awhile since we last wrote. We were in Port McNeil on the North end of Vancouver Island when we last sent out an email. This past month has been a whirlwind of activity.

From Port McNeil we made our way back down the inside passage taking a different route than on the way North. It was fun coming back to Desolation Sound, which we had spent a week in on the way North. It is one of the most beautiful areas with high mountain peaks and warm waters to swim in.

Friends and Family,

The past month has been an exciting three week taste of the Bay area and a week spent working our way to Santa Barbara. We have enjoyed some excellent sailing, met up with both family and friends, and seen lots and lots of sea life.

Our first week in San Francisco was full of exploring the city. We stayed in the marina district, right by Fort Mason, for a several nights and went for long walks around the city. After deciding that Golden Gate Park was a really far away we put our bikes together and went for a great ride along the waterfront and over into the park.

26 December 2006

Friends and Family,

Happy New Years from Mexico. We are in Turtle Bay, which is about half way down the Pacific side of Baja.

Since we last wrote from San Diego we spent a few more weeks in San Diego and then worked our way south to Turtle Bay. The time in San Diego went very fast as we did some work on the boat, shopped, and hung out with friends. We shopped so much that I don't think we'll have to do any more for a long time. There was the marine shopping list, the grocery list and of course the miscellaneous list (violin strings, engine oil, ect). We had one big surprise and ended up changing out a set of batteries, luckily our friends loaned us there three wheeler.

Beyond shopping we enjoyed hanging out with Danielle, Brian, Symbolyn, Panga Tom, Paul and Seasha. One of the highlights was a day racing on Bongo, Brian's boat. The race was all classic wooden boats and had an interesting start and finish. All the skippers started on the beach and rowed or swam out to their boat, where the crew could lift the anchor and set sail as soon as the skipper touched the boat. Our start was great and the rest of the race was fun. The finish had the skippers swim or row to the beach and drink up a cup of rum.
